As you can see from the picture above, a greedy monkey ate my offering in Ulu Watu in Bali! Can you believe that!!
The afternoon started out fun. The nice people at Amanusa taught us how to make offerings. In Bali, people leave flower offerings everywhere to be nice to the Hindu gods. They are made with flowers, leaves and sometimes food like rice. I have even seen ritz crackers left inside. The gods must be very hungry!
These are our materials. Our offerings were shaped like cones and had lots of flowers and leaves inside.
This was the woman showing us what to do.
This is what it was supposed to look like. It is a lot harder than it looks. You have to keep the leaf cone shut with a toothpick.
I needed a little help!
This is me and my brother's offering. I thought they looked great! It took a lot of work!
This is my dad's offering. He was VERY proud of his!!
We went to Ulu Watu, which is a very famous temple on the top of a cliff and laid our offerings at the alter. Right away, a monkey came running up and ate our offerings!! It took me an hour to make mine and only three seconds for him to rip it to shreds!
After he was finished eating, he put the leaf cone over his nose! It was so funny!
