Today we went on an Andong ride. An andong is a special Indonesian horsecart. This is the way a lot of people in the small villages of Java get around. The man and horse that drove us around was really nice. When we went downhill, the horse ran fast and we all laughed a lot! It was so much fun!
We rode through all of the small villages around Borobudur. There was a lot of farmland. They were growing all kinds of things like rice, bananas and corn.
We passed a lot of kids playing outside.
There were also a lot of people doing their work in the village.
These birds were following the farmer around. When he tilled the soil, they were there to eat all the worms that came up!
This is a small house in one of the villages.
Look - this boy is driving a scooter!! My dad said not to get my hopes up.
A little baby in the village.
We passed a school and the students ran behind the Andong to meet us.
This is a street sign pointing the way to the different villages.
This is a rice field. You can tell by all the water. Rice needs to grow in standing water.
You can see Borobudur in the distance of this picture.
