This morning we took a drive out to the Banteay Srei temple which is in the Cambodian countryside. It took about an hour to get there. We drove through rice fields, which looked very dry because there has been no rain. There were lots of wooden houses on stilts. They have no electricity or running water. They used batteries to have small lights.
Banteay Srei means "beautiful temple". It is over 1,000 years old. It is beautiful because there are a lot of carvings made of sandstone. Sandstone is easier to carve then other types of rock.
