Chiang Mai means "the new city" which is funny because it is 800 years old!
Today I went to Doi Sutteph temple which was on the top of a mountain. To get there, we had to drive up a twisty road. We then had to walk up 306 steps to get to the top. At the top there was a temple made of gold. I met this nice girl from the Hmong tribe.

This is the golden temple. It is real gold!
The story of the temple is that they put the bones of the buddha on top of an elephant and let him walk around. When he stopped, this is where they put the temple.

This is the gigantic golden bell at the temple. You ring it three times when you have done something good. Buddhists believe if you are good today, you will be good in a future life.
